Sony has had a couple of 3D-capable devices unveiled at IFA Berlin. One of them is its 3D VAIO laptop which is still a prototype and planed to release in Spring of 2011. The laptop that was shown off at the IFA is based on the current Sony’s VAIO F-series 16-inch notebook. But Sony claims that the eventual production models will be different from the demoed models. The Sony’s 3D laptop requires you to wear a pair of full active shutter “frame sequential” glasses and be at a dedicated viewing position to enjoy watching the best 3D contents in full HD 1080p quality on the laptop’s screen. The 3D screen of the VAIO prototype is able to rapidly cycle between left and right eye, and has blank screens between each shot for the left and right eye – which effectively outputs 240 frames per second to match the normal 60fps refresh rate.
