Xiaomi has initiated the official rollout of HyperOS

For more than a decade, Xiaomi has been synonymous with its MIUI software, a mainstay for all Xiaomi users. However, in October of this year, a new operating system was introduced – HyperOS. Xiaomi decided to replace the familiar MIUI system with this brand new operating system. HyperOS is designed to unify all Xiaomi devices into a single integrated system and was initially launched as the pre-installed operating system on the Xiaomi 14 series. Now, Xiaomi is expanding the availability of HyperOS to a broader range of smartphones and tablets, with the rollout beginning in the first quarter of 2024.

Xiaomi has announced the availability of HyperOS for the following nine devices:

  1. Xiaomi 13 Ultra
  2. Xiaomi 13 Pro
  3. Xiaomi 13
  4. Xiaomi 13T Pro
  5. Xiaomi 13T
  6. Redmi Note 12
  7. Redmi Note 12S
  8. Xiaomi Pad 6
  9. Poco F5

According to a GSM Arena report, eligible users will receive the HyperOS update over the air. However, the rollout will be gradual and not simultaneous for all users, so it may take some time for all eligible devices to receive HyperOS. Last month, HyperOS was announced for a select range of Xiaomi and Redmi devices, including:

  • Xiaomi 12S Ultra
  • Xiaomi 12S Pro
  • Xiaomi 12S
  • Xiaomi 12 Pro
  • Xiaomi 12 Pro Dimensity Edition

  • Redmi K50 Ultra
  • Redmi K50 Gaming Edition
  • Redmi K50 Pro
  • Redmi K50

HyperOS made its debut alongside the Xiaomi 14 series phones in China. This new operating system has been carefully crafted to address the complexities of managing diverse device ecosystems. Positioned as a "human-centric" OS, HyperOS features a modern design language and includes functionalities aimed at elevating users' experience. It facilitates device transitions, enables remote data and app access, and harnesses AI for speech generation, image search, and artwork creation. These features promise an intuitive and functional interface across Xiaomi's product lineup.

As the successor to MIUI, HyperOS also pledges enhancements in terms of performance, AI integration, cross-device connectivity, and privacy and security. Users can expect swifter boot times, smoother animations, and optimized background app retention for an overall improved performance.

Regarding connectivity, HyperOS promises to unify Xiaomi devices, allowing users to effortlessly continue tasks across different platforms, receive calls on alternate devices, leverage a smartphone's rear camera as a laptop webcam, share mobile data, and more. Privacy and security are prioritized with open-source components, advanced encryption, and granular permission management. The revamped user interface introduces an iOS-inspired lock screen, customizable widgets, a Dynamic-Island-like notification system, and an enhanced Quick Settings menu.
